Abstract
El APRA, una colección de panfletos políticos es una colección de escritos políticos publicados sobre la Alianza Popular Revolucionaria Americana (o American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA), el primer partido político peruano. El APRA fue fundado por Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre en 1924 como un movimiento panamericano antiimperialista. El APRA emergio durante un periodo turbulento en la historia peruana, y fue derrocado y/o ilegalizado bajo varios gobiernos militares y civiles. Los líderes y miembros del APRA fueron frecuentemente encarcelados, forzados a esconderse o exiliados durante este período de tiempo. El APRA finalmente obtuvo el poder electoral y logró la presidencia peruana en 1985. The APRA, a collection of political pamphlets is a collection of published political writings regarding the Alianza Popular Revolucionaria Americana (or American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA), the first Peruvian political party. APRA was founded by Víctor Raúl Haya de la Torre in 1924 as an anti-imperialist, Pan-American movement. APRA emerged during a turbulent period in Peruvian history, and it was overthrown and/or made illegal under several military and civilian governments. APRA leaders and members were frequently imprisoned, forced into hiding, or went into exile during this time period. APRA ultimately gained electoral power and acheived the Peruvian presidency in 1985. This collection includes publications and speeches written by prominent figures within APRA, including Haya de la Torre, Luis Heysen, Magda Portal, Manuel Seoane, and others. It also includes publications created by the Partido Aprista Peruano (PAP), the official peruvian party aparatus.

This collection includes publications and speeches written by prominent figures within the Alianza Popular Revolucionaria Americana (or American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (APRA), including Haya de la Torre, Carlos Manuel Cox, Luis Heysen, Magda Portal, Manuel Seoane, and others. This collection includes APRA political propaganda, official party philosophy, defenses of Aprismo, as well as writings against APRA. Many publications created by the Partido Aprista Peruano (PAP), the official party aparatus within Peru, are included and demostrate APRA's ideology and governing philosophies once the party achieved political power in the 1980s. This collection documents the political turmoil of Peru's 20th century politics, inlcuding the impacts of exile, political violence, intra-party disagreements, and Cold War-era worries about communism.

Custodial History
Gran parte de esta colección fue comprada de Luis Alberto Sánchez. Un ejemplar proviene de la biblioteca de Carlos E. Carrillo Velásquez, Administrador General de la Penitenciaría Central de Lima desde 1934 y subdirector del taller de imprenta y encuadernación del penal. Much of this collection was purchased from Luis Alberto Sánchez. One item comes from the library of Carlos E. Carrillo Velásquez, General Administrator of the Central Penitentiary of Lima beginning in 1934 and sub-director of the prison’s printing and binding workshop. The complete custodial history of this collection is unknown.
Processing Information
Grace Perez originally inventoried and cataloged these materials. In 2023, Lexy deGraffenreid rehoused these items into archival folders and boxes to improve the preservation of materials. She also used Grace Perez' original order and inventory to archivally describe the collection.
