Custodial History

This collection contains materials accumulated by Jorge Zamora Botta who served as a literary secretary to Luis Alberto Sánchez between 1982-1994. The collection contains materials which Botta gathered in the course of his work with Sánchez and the APRA political organization. Many of the publications are editions either given or belonging to Luis Alberto Sánchez or Carlos Manuel Cox. Though, as Botta notes, "the material [does not have] signatures or dedicatories to Dr. Sánchez or Carlos Manuel Cox for obvious reason[s]...this was material which could be compromising." The materials were purchased from Botta by the Penn State University in 2010.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Penn State University purchased this material from Jorge Zamora Botta, a member of the APRA party, in 2010.

Processing Information

Penn State University received these materials in 2010, at which point the original order of the materials was dismantled and materials separated by format. Upon entry into the repository, the materials were cataloged and housed in acid-free containers and stored in a controlled climate.

In 2019, Caitlin Rizzo arranged the collection into two intellectual series which corresponded to the physical separation of the materials into two categories: Photographs and Printed Matter and Publications. Rizzo largely retained the arrangement created by the initial processor of the collection who separated photographs, pamphlets, serials, and publications. However, the photographs were additionally arranged chronologically by subject matter and publications were to the item-level to capture title information. A finding aid and a container listing was created to increase access to the collection.
