Custodial History
Lyman Tower Sargent donated his personal papers and materials related to the Society for Utopian Studies in 2014 and 2019. During a collection move, additional boxes of the Arthur B. Shostak papers were inadvertantly added to the collection. In 2020, Aaron Morris inventoried the collection and Lyman Tower Sargent distinguished materials from these three collections from one another. Based on the donor's advice, Lexy deGraffenreid separated these materials at the Box level. The donor indicated that a few boxes in the Lyman Tower Sargent and Society for Utopian Studies records may include materials for the other collection, however Lexy deGraffenreid did not separate materials below the box level.
Curator Clara Drummond and Accessioning Archivist Mae Casey arranged for Accession 2022-0007, traveling to Sargent's home to pick up the addition to the archival collection as well as 26 boxes of Utopian literature in February 2022.
