Summary

Abstract

The Pennsylvania State University Institute of Local Government was created in 1936; it offered an undergraduate major in public service to train local officials, and conducted research. It was discontinued in 1959. The Centre County Planning Commission was created in 1963 to study and make comprehensive recommendations for development in Centre County. The collection consists primarily of serial publications by various associations about local government entities in Pennsylvania (1937-1964), planning documents from and about Centre County, primarily for the 1970s, and photocopies of Haines and Penn township (Centre County) property tax rolls (1875; 1880).
