Abstract

T. M. Fowler, panoramic cartographer, lived primarily in Pennsylvania from 1881 until 1910, producing more Pennsylvania panoramas than any other artist of the time. This collection consists of cartographic materials depicting Pennsylvania town views. Lithographs, photogravures (prints), photocopies of sketches and microfilm are included in the collection. The vast majority of bird's eye views were drawn by T. M. (Thaddeus Mortimer) Fowler.

Biographical / Historical

T. M. (Thaddeus Mortimer) Fowler, panoramic cartographer, established a firm with his uncle in Madison (Wisconsin) after the Civil War. From 1881 to 1885 he lived in Lewisburg and Shamokin (Pa.), and Trenton (New Jersey). He relocated to Morrisville (Pa.) in 1885 where, until 1910, he maintained his business, producing more Pennsylvania panoramas than any other artist of the time.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of cartographic materials depicting Pennsylvania town views. Lithographs, photogravures (prints), photocopies of sketches and microfilm are included in the collection and arranged by geographic location. The vast majority of bird's eye views were drawn by T. M. (Thaddeus Mortimer)Fowler.
