The collection is intellectually divided into two series, Teaching and Administration and Research. These series were created based on the nature of Trauth’s materials. The entirety of the collection is comprised of professional materials, either created by Trauth or her contemporaries. While some materials are interdisciplinary with Gender Studies and Labor Studies, they are all firmly based in the field of Information Technology. All materials in the collection are textual and contained in folders or journals. Contents include articles, syllabi, lecture notes, notebooks and slides.

He weeded student records from the collection, such as student papers, exams, and social security numbers to protect their privacy.
