Abstract
The Institute for Research on Human Resources was established in 1964. It became the Institute for Policy Research and Evaluation in April 1978. It directs three centers: the Center for Research on Human Resources, the Population Issues Research Center, and the Center for the Study of Science Policy. In 2002 the Institute became part of the Social Science Research Institute.

Biographical / Historical
The Institute for Policy Research and Evaluation was created in 1978; it was formed by the merging of the Institute for Research on Human Resources, which was established as a unit within the Intercollegiate Research Programs in 1964, the Population Issues Research Office, created in 1971, and the Center for the Study of Scientific Policy. Its mission was to conduct research into the design and evaluation of public policies and programs, and into the processes by which these policies are established and implemented. In January 2002 the Institute became part of the Social Science Research Institute.

This collection of the Institute for Policy Research and Evaluation documents the Institute's studies and research. Items included are contracts, meeting minutes, newsletters, surveys, evaluations, and reports.
